Guided Ice Fishing Trips
Can’t get enough fishing done during the summer? Our experienced ice fishing guides are available to get you started on the ice or to help you get into some of our lake trout. Booking your ice fishing guide when you make your cabin reservation will assure you of their services, as we do not want to disappoint you if they are booked up in advance when you arrive. Don’t forget to add your meals and make this an all-inclusive ice fishing trip.
Your guide will provide all the necessities for Minnesota ice fishing; insulated pop-up shelter, auger, chairs, portable heater, rods with reels, tackle, and bait. Be sure to dress for the weather with proper winter clothing, gloves, a hat, and boots.
With a full-day fishing guide, your guide will bring along chef’s choice sandwiches and you can choose either chips or chili for lunch. Once you land your catch, your guide will clean and fillet your fish, then the chefs at Justine’s will cook it up for you for dinner or we can freeze it for you to take home with you.
Don’t forget to pick up your fishing license!

I have lived in Cook County my entire life. I graduated from Cook County High School in 1995 and have over 25 years of fishing experience on lakes in the area.
I married my love Mandy in Sept 2010 and we enjoy every adventure the Northwoods has to offer!
Guiding people fishing and imparting on them my knowledge of fish is what I love to do. I like to provide an amazing experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Ice Fishing Equipment Rentals
Don’t want to take up valuable car space with a pop up ice shelter and sled? Rent our equipment instead! Rental time is from 8am to 4pm. Experience Minnesota’s ice fishing on many different lakes (even the BWCAW)! From January 1st to January 15th trout fishing is only available in the Boundary Waters and you will need to hike into an entry point for trout fishing. We specialize in great lake trout and the occasional walleye. Trout Fishing Opener in Minnesota is January 16th.

- 2-3 person Eskimo or 4 person insulated Eskimo pop up shelter
- Pull behind sled
- 8″ hand auger (Electric StrikeMaster with Deluxe Rental)
- Ice scoop & bucket to bring your fish back in

- 3 – 1 lb. propane tanks

Full Service Ice Fishing Rental
This is a bridge between a fully guided ice fishing experience and our basic ice fishing rental. A staff member will assist in selecting a prime
location on Gunflint Lake for whatever you are hoping to catch from Lake Trout to Northern Pike. They will shuttle you and your equipment out to your location, set up your shelter, give you advice to get you started, and then leave you to enjoy your rental! The staff member will return at the end to take down the shelter and bring you and the equipment back.
Included with your Full Service Ice Fishing Rental:
- All equipment listed with whichever Pop Up Shelter you choose
- Placement of fishing site
- Set up and take-down of your Pop Up Shelter
- Drilling of holes in the ice based on the number of people in your group
- Staff member will give detailed advice on lure presentation and techniques before leaving you to enjoy your rental
- Shuttle to and from your location on Gunflint Lake based on designated times. If for some reason you decide to come back to the lodge prior to the designated time, don’t worry, we will retrieve all the gear for you

Permanent Ice House Rental
Want to try your hand at ice fishing? Experience Minnesota ice fishing on Gunflint Lake! Come enjoy our heated ice house right in front of the Lodge.
Included in your Permanent House:
- House warm and ready with 4 drilled holes
- Ice scoop & bucket to bring your fish back in
- 4 folding chairs
- 2 tackle boxes with suggested tackle for walleye and lake trout
- 4 ice fishing rods with reels
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance will receive a 100% refund of the deposit. Cancellations made within 30 days – 72 hours will be refunded the deposit minus a software/processing fee. Cancellations made within 72 hours will forfeit the full 25% deposit. If we cancel the activity/rental for any reason, a 100% refund will be issued within 7 – 10 business days.
Lodge Overnight Guests Rates: We are pleased to offer discounted rates for overnight lodge guests. While our deposit policy is the same for all activity bookings, lodge guests will receive applicable discounted rates at the time of final billing on the day of their activity.
