Gunflint Lake is a perfect lake for Minnesota boat rentals and motorists to go exploring. There are waterfalls that you can visit, islands to stop at for a lunch break, sandy beaches to play at, and of course there are many fishing holes waiting to be discovered. If you bring your own boat and motor you have a complimentary slip at the dock with a stay at the resort.

Our new Retro Boat Rentals capture the charm of the Northwoods’ golden age of vacationing. Inspired by the runabouts that once cruised Minnesota’s lakes in the 1950s, these beautifully styled boats are perfect for couples, families, photographers, and anyone who wants to slow down and enjoy the lake.
Cruise the shoreline, discover quiet bays, stop for a picnic on a sandy beach, or simply enjoy an afternoon on the water with the wind in your hair. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, making family memories, or just treating yourself to something special, a Retro Boat is one of the most memorable ways to experience Gunflint Lake.

Styled based on a ‘1957 Ski Champ body style, this 25 hp Mercury engine is designed for a leisurely cruise–not waterskiing.

As the sun begins to settle over Gunflint Lake, the water grows quieter, the light turns golden, and the shoreline takes on an entirely different character. Our Golden Hour Cruise is designed for guests who want to enjoy the lake at its most beautiful—perfect for couples, families, photographers, or anyone looking for a peaceful evening on the water.

- The primary operator must be at least 18 years of age.
- Operators must meet current Minnesota Watercraft Operator Permit requirements.
- Our staff will provide a safety orientation before departure.
- Children are welcome as passengers when accompanied by a qualified adult.
Reservations are limited to one party at a time. Drivers must demonstrate safe and responsible operation. Gunflint Lodge reserves the right to deny rentals due to weather, water conditions, or operator safety concerns.

Full day pontoon rentals are from 8am-5pm ONLY. Half day pontoon rentals start at 8am or 1pm ONLY.
– Pontoon late fee: $25 for each 15-minute increment after established return time
– Fishing boat late fee: $15 for each 15-minute increment after established return time
Overnight Lodge Guests receive discounted rates: Duluxe Boat 8 hr – $210 / 4 hr – $150, 13 Passenger Pontoon – $299, 10 Passenger Pontoon 8 hr – $279 / 4 hr – $199
For non-overnight guests, all rental boats require a refundable $500 security deposit be authorized on a credit card at the time of rental. Reservations are charged at the time of booking and are not refundable.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance will receive a 100% refund of the deposit. Cancellations made within 30 days – 72 hours in advance will be refunded the deposit minus a software/processing fee. Cancellations made between 72 hours in advance and the morning of rental will forfeit the full 25% deposit. If not previously paid, the remaining balance will process on the morning of rental and will be forfeited in the event of cancellation or no-show that day. If we cancel the activity/rental for any reason, a 100% refund will be issued within 7 – 10 business days.
Lodge Overnight Guests Rates: We are pleased to offer discounted rates for overnight Lodge guests. While our deposit policy is the same for all activity bookings, Gunflint Lodge guests will receive applicable discounted rates at the time of final billing on the day of their activity.

Non-Motorized Activities
All guests have access to our waterfront amenities, which include free canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddle boards. These free rentals are first come, first serve.
Also enjoy beach access, roped off swimming area and swing set for the kids to play on.
Free Fishing Fun For Kids
As a complimentary activity for overnight lodge guests, our dock staff will take your children (2 kids at a time, between 5-12 years old) out for a single two-hour fishing experience on Gunflint Lake. Kids must be accompanied by at least one adult for a maximum of 3 participants. Multiple trips can be scheduled for larger groups. We’ll gear them up with PFDs as well as bait & tackle, and we’ll take them out for a first-time fishing outing they won’t forget! This activity is offered based on staff availability.
