As time marches along many of us have forgotten the skills of our Native Americans
which was part of making their lives comfortable in their wilderness settings. They
used simple tools and materials of the woods and rocks to create what they needed.
On Friday we plan to open the weekend with an evening talk about this subject. On
Saturday we will have some demonstrations and be talking about flint knapping,
birch bark basket making, beading, tanning hides, dog sledding, and wild ricing.
As this goes to press we are not sure exactly who our speakers will be, so we are not
promising specific talks on specific topics, but we will have enough to keep your day
filled. You will also have your skis and snowshoes for getting out on the trails, corn
to feed the deer, and sunflowers for the song birds.
Includes: 2 nights accommodations in a lakeside cabin with fireplace, all meals,
cross country skis, snowshoes, a 20 minute dog sled ride, and all the weekend talks
and demonstrations. Taxes and ski passes are additional.
