The Gunflint Trail Historical Society has taken on the exciting project of creating and operating the
Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center at the end of the Gunflint Trail. The main building and 50
acres of land, bogs, swamps and rocky ridges were leased from the USFS for 20 years. The goal is to
have a ‘regional quality’ museum telling the history of the area all the way back to the original native
Americans, plus a series of nature trails for birding, wild flowers, moose viewing, and a BWCA trail.
One trail will be up to ADA standards.

To give a helping hand, we are sponsoring a work project to build one of these nature trails. If a
group of us contributed 4 hours on each of three days, we could build most of one trail. That would
still leave you with half of each day to enjoy canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, or just
relaxing. |
