Our dining room is located inside the main Lodge, and features a panoramic view of Gunflint Lake with some amazing sights and glorious sunsets. In the winter, deer gather at the feeder outside the dining room windows to graze on the food that we put out for them. We serve hearty Northwoods fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We often serve wild game, and make extensive use of native ingredients, including wild berries, maple syrup, wild rice, and mushrooms.

While most accommodations include kitchens, there's really no reason to cook when you can walk right over to a fine meal prepared to order and served at your table by the window - or beside a crackling fire in the native stone fireplace that adds warmth and charm to the dining room. (While open year round, the dining room does close for a short period from October 26 to December 14, 2007 (open during Thanksgiving week Nov 20 - 25) and April 1 - 27, 2007.

Gunflint Lodge is proud to announce the opening of ...

When people talk about Gunflint, great food quickly becomes part of the conversation.  Our main dining room, Justine's, has been serving fine Northwood’s cuisine for many years.  In the summer of 2006, we went one step further to offer you an additional choice for dining.  In May we opened The Red Paddle Bistro inside the lodge.  Meals and beverages will be available from noon to 10:00 p.m. daily. 

 The bistro will feature lighter fair, with a hint of the Northwood’s.   A small sampling from the menu includes:  Walleye Chowder, Gunflint Burgers and fish sandwiches.  You get the idea.  Of course, no bistro would be complete without a selection of appetizers, drinks, and sweet treats. 

 This will be a place where you can sit and sip a drink before dinner, or come in on a hot afternoon for a refreshing beverage.  It is also a place where you can enjoy a cordial while watching the sun set over Gunflint Lake.  If you need one last morsel to satisfy your sweet tooth, you will find it in the Bistro. 

 The Bistro is for families, too.  Ice cream and root beer floats will tempt our younger guests.  Children’s menu items will be available. Family meals are not the only use for these tables.  They are also a great place for an afternoon of board games.
